Your 2018 PDRA World Champions Tom and Ryan Martino of Martino Motorsports (Youngstown, Ohio) took advantage of a three week break in their 2019 NHRA and PDRA season schedules to visit with fellow Team Salt Life member Captain Rob Gorta for a once in a lifetime fishing experience in the Gulf of Mexico which brought in 25+ monster sized red drums!

“Fishing for red fish is much like racing…  It takes strong focus, patience, and most importantly a quick reaction time.  If you react too soon or too late, you probably just lost your bait and likely the biggest catch of your lifetime”, states Tom Martino.

“Our crew chief for the day, Captain Rob, put us right on the fish and it was up to us to hook and reel these fierce fish to the boat.  Surprisingly enough, my dad and I never tangled lines, but it’s still up for debate on who landed more fish and who’s catch was the biggest”, adds Ryan Martino.

Team Salt Life: Nicole Spence

Hey Everyone, Nicole Spenc here. I'm from the small town of Cocoa Beach, Florida. I have been on the water since before I was conceived. My parents lived on a house boat while my father was a commercial fisherman. We also owned and ran a successful shrimp seafood market while I was growing up. Fishing and hunting has been apart of my life regardless if I wanted it or not.

My love for the great outdoors didn’t start till a few years ago, even with my dad always trying to teach me. I guess I needed to experience the city life, until I realized salt water runs through my veins. Now I live & breath the Salt Life! I absolutely love traveling, meeting new people, and creating new adventures.

I currently manage Nicole’s Fishing Bed & Breakfast in Venice Louisiana, the fishing capital of the world. Clients will come and stay at our lodge while I prepare all of their meals. Sometimes I even get to go fishing with them. In my free time I do everything from Scuba Diving, Free Diving, any kind of Fishing, and Hunting. I truly want nothing more then to inspire more woman to get Outdoors. I love what I do and I’m thankful to have made a career out of my passions.

You just gotta' stop for a quick pic at Lands End before turning the corner..

With the Sea of Cortez on on side and the Pacific on the otherThere's only one Land's End... you just have to see it for yourself... No picture ever does it justice.

Christian and Liam keep a sharp eye out for tailors on the way out.

 Liam has never been fishing before, so we put him in the chair for some quick instruction before the action begins.

I can just feel it.... it's gonna' happen....

Yea man! Striped Marlin on! Christian grabs the rod and gets to work in the chair.

No pressure. BIG fish, everyone barking orders... in two languages... and a camera in your face...

 He's almost here! Reel Christian reel!

That's right marlin boat side for a quick release and Slimy 5!

 Let's do it again! Come on Liam, It looks like you first fish is gonna be a marlin!

This fish just won't give up! Liam is in for a battle,,

But he is up for the challenge, putting line on that reel like a pro!

He's rewarded by an awesome Striped Marlin! How 'bout that for your first fish?

After the release, the marlin grey-hounded for over a hundred yards jumping over and over... What a hot fish!

We fished and played on the water so much we left no time for the ....... we have to leave for the airport ... quick.
